It’s a bummer getting old. Even being as active as I am, parts of my body creak that aren’t supposed to make noise. Whether it’s the onset of arthritis or I picked something up wrong, it always seems to be the same problem: inflammation.

Inflammation is the body’s attempt at self-protection. It’s an immune response to something that is harmful or irritating to a specific area and marks an effort to heal itself.

Ingredients

  • ½ fresh lime, peeled
  • 1 stalk of celery, chunked
  • 1 cup of cucumber with skin
  • ½ cup pineapple, fresh or frozen
  • 2 tablespoons of ground flax seeds
  • coconut water to line
  • 3 ice cubes

Directions 

Add all ingredients to your Tall NutriBullet Cup and extract until smooth.

 

Fruits, like pineapple, are a rich source of flavonoids and antioxidants that help quiet the inflammatory noise in the body. Pineapple is well known for containing bromelain, a pain and inflammation-relieving enzyme concentrated in the core of the fruit. Flax seeds are bursting with omega 3 fatty acids, which are also potent anti-inflammatory aids, as well.

Remember, next time you feel a little sore or creaky, try whipping up a Blast before you reach for the Ibuprofen. Add this recipe to your list of anti-inflammatory solutions. Moreover, all the ingredients help reduce inflammation and have a cooling effect. You have nothing to lose, but the pain.
