In the words of one of my favorite TV characters, Homer Simpson, “Donuts. Is there anything they can’t do?” Wouldn’t life be great if you could eat jelly donuts everyday and not get the bad-for-you fat and calories? Not to mention the powdered sugar all over your face, fingers and clothes! Sigh! Alas, wouldn’t it be wonderful if you could stuff a donut into your NutriBullet and make a healthy, tasty Blast? Well, I finally found a way of having my donut and drinking it, too – a Jelly Donut Blast!

Wait! It’s not what you think! The taste is amazing – just like the real thing – but made of healthy, fresh whole foods. A friend of mine who knows about my sweet tooth and happens to love donuts gave me the idea for this tasty concoction. I took the flavors of a  a perfect jelly donut and transformed them into this creamy, healthy drink. So, grab a straw and ditch the donuts! No excuses!

Blueberry smoothies

Jelly Donut Blast
Ingredients
  • 1½ cups blueberries, fresh or frozen
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted peanuts
  • ½ cup cold brewed coffee
  • 1-2 drops stevia
  • 3 – 4 ice cubes
Directions
  1. Add all ingredients to NutriBullet Tall Cup and extract until smooth.

 

I kid you not, this Blast tastes just like a jelly donut, but you can rest easy knowing it’s good for you. The blueberries provide vitamins and antioxidants, peanuts give you an extra protein punch, plain, unsweetened Greek yogurt provides probiotics that are excellent for gut health, and coffee adds that kick of flavor and energy-boosting caffeine. Add raspberries for a twist!
