Morning Ginger Blast

10

I am not a morning person. Never have been, never will be. I have a difficult time waking up, and if I miss my morning cup of joe, I feel groggy the entire day. That was until I discovered adding one little extra ingredient to my morning NutriBlast— ginger!

Unlike coffee, ginger does not contain caffeine. Nevertheless, the heat that is packed into this little root is sure to rub the sleep out of your eyes and prepare you for your day. It just so happens, ginger is healthful in so many other ways – it improves the absorption of essential nutrients by the body. It also can help relieve nausea and ease a sore throat and congestion. On top of all this, ginger has anti-inflammatory properties that can help bring relief to joint pain, so if you wake up full of aches and pains, this is another huge plus.

I came up with this recipe one morning when we were all out of coffee. I had a spare piece of ginger root leftover from the stir-fry I made for dinner the previous night, and decided to add it to my morning Blast to see what would happen. The drink was delicious! It had the perfect amount of zing to wake me up, with just a little kick!

Ingredients

  • 1 inch piece of ginger peeled
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup of pineapple
  • 1 cup of coconut water
  • 2 handfuls of spinach or other greens
  • 3 ice cubes

Directions

Add all ingredients into the large NutriBullet cup, extract until smooth and enjoy!

Ginger is now a regular part of my morning routine. It allows me to wake up and get ready to go, without any caffeine. Now, if I skip my morning cup of coffee, no big deal. I know I can rely on my favorite root to do the trick just fine. As usual, feel free to take creative liberties.

Enjoy!
