What’s That You’re Drinking…?
24Over the years, as my diet has changed and gotten more and more green and less and less processed, I’ve gotten used to the looks of my friends and family who quizzically look at what I’m eating like it’s something totally alien.
Okay, so I’ll admit that sometimes I am eating what many would consider “weird stuff” — like chomping on handfuls of raw kale, or rehydrating chia seeds in my coffee or gulping down kefir. But, on the whole, I’m usually eating fruits and veggies that you’ve grown up seeing at the grocery store, like spinach, bell peppers, apples, mushrooms, zucchini and carrots.
However, as I’ve gotten more and more brave with my NutriBlasts, I’ve taken the perceived “weirdness” to a new level, for my green smoothies have now turned a brownish-purple. Maybe not the most appetizing looking smoothies, but I swear they are delicious!
My friends though? They don’t’ believe me. No matter how many times I tell them what’s in it (kale, cucumber, blueberries, banana, brazil nuts and chocolate protein powder) and how delicious it is, they just won’t take a sip. And, whenever they see me drinking one (which is often), they give me that same quizzical expression of “Why on earth would you drink that?”
Mark my words though…one of these days I’ll get them to try it! I shall not give up! Anyone have any good tricks — ahem, I mean ideas — on how to encourage friends or family without being overly pushy? Would love to hear ‘em!

I am now using aloe vera in my shakes. Has anyone else done this?
I have been doing Blast since Sept 2012 and have lost 4 belt notches, I have health issues and have read about things that help with my issues,,like raw tumeric for imflamation….it seems to be working after one week of adding it to my blast…it has a spicy taste but have gotten used to it, like ginger it takes some time to get use to it.but wont go without it now….basic morning blast is half apple half pear..1 inch of ginger handful of frozen grapes…handful of kale or spinach 2 tbsp flax 1tbsp sunflower seeds.some pumpkin seed for zinc…and even some peanuts for flavor water to line…sounds like a mess but has all I need to go all day without eating….
I have only eaten once a day for months…also do a fruity night drink…with frozen banana, frozen grapes.some berries and water,,,
but for the chocolate lovers there is the 1 frozen banana, 1handful frozen grapes 1 cup of either sweetened or unsweetened vanilla almond milk and 1tbsp chia seeds and 2 tbsp of cacoa, I grind my own from cacoa nibs…try you will like it…

Totally agree…flu is rampant..all my co workers are sick or have been..not me..my energy level has changed and I really do attribute it to my Nutribullet..anyone use raw eggs…mmmm
I received my nutriblast last summer and LOVE it! I got off track through the holidays and now that I’m back to one large blast a day after three days my skin looks great again! My favorite blasts start with spinach or romaine, a banana, a variety of frozen fruits (because I do like mine cold) walnuts, and flaxseed. I just started adding the juice of half a lemon and a chunk of ginger and love the added tartness, plus the lemon seems to help my blasts keep their bright beautiful color!
I’m glad to see all the testimonials here. I have been on the verge of buying a nutri bullet for the past month. I have a coffeehouse and we have vitamix blenders to make our smoothies with, although the nutri bullet would be ideal for measurement purposes. Personally, I do a “green” drink every morning at 7am. I’ve gotten my employees hooked on them too. We routinely do a mixture of pineapple, spinach, cucumber, flax, almond, organic frozen cherries and berry mixture and every once in a while throw some pear, orange, apple or banana in them. It’s starting to catch on here at my cafe with my customers as they have sampled some of the personal drinks we make. Another great thing is you can take the leftovers and freeze them in popsicle molds and the kids LOVE them. Usually if we are going to make a sorbet type of thing we add a little agave or honey. You would not believe how the little kids eat them up. As long as they don’t see you make them, they’ll never know how much good stuff is in them….
Not a day goes by that I don’t have a concoction of some sort from my NB. HOWEVER, I haven’t yet weaned myself from the fruity blends yet except to always include some greenery (usually spinach) with my fruitery. I’d love to try an all veggie mix and wish someone would recommend a recipe that would make me “see the light.
Have them close their eyes & taste it…when they taste it & see how good it tastes-the mental block of how it looks will take a back seat!!! They too will be on their way to feeling great!
I bought mine on the recommendation of my brilliant sister in law. I found it to be an excellent investment. Anyone have a recipe that’s protein rich so I can add a few more pounds to my frame. Maybe 10-20. I’ve been working some crazy hours and I need a good weight gain recipe to take to work with me. Thanks
I’ve got my NutriBullet 3 months now and have been using it daily. Today’s blast was delicious. Since it is cold and flu season, I’ve been making my blasts with tons of vitamin C. Today’s blast consisted of spinach, 1/2 lemon, 1/2 navel orange, 1 kiwi, a handful of frozen red grapes, 1 tsp matcha green tea, 1 tbsp of chia seeds and water to just under the max line – threw in a few ice cubes at the end to make it colder and a little thicker. WOW! it was so yummy, crisp, clean not too sweet, not too tart. I’ve taken to not mentioning my green shakes to anyone ’cause I’m tired of hearing the ‘yucks’ and ‘ewwws’. If someone is interested they’ll ask. I’m loving them and feel great – that’s enough for me. Here’s a toast to good health!
With the weight that I’ve lost and the energy I have, the results alone have encouraged others to try it. My mom is currently blasting for her breakfasts and now my younger sister is trying it out! She’s totally not a veggie eater, so this is such a great step for her.
All it took was for my friends and family to see the weight my husband and I were losing. They asked what diet we were on and I told them we were drinking nutriblasts and made one for each to try. I have gotten family and friends to purchase 12 Nutribullets.
I love my Nutribullet!!!!
I just got my 25yr old daughter turned on to Nutri-Blasting. First I had to buy her the Nutribullet of course. Next, I made her an all fruit smoothie. Frozen Mixed berries, unsweetened vanilla almond milk, & banana. She downed 16 oz. in under 5 minutes it was awesome. I was so happy seeing her going down the path of raw foods and Nutriblasting.
I was so excited when I got my nutribullet 2 nights ago that I immediately started taking out veggies out of the fridge to make a blast. I had read everything I could find before buying it. I threw in salad ingredients like spinach, tomato, etc. including brocalli because I like it. Not the tastiest thing I have ever eaten as I immediately realized I had put in too much brocalli but it went down the hatch anyway. That night I was miserable. I bloated, and kept tasting the brocalli . Yuk! Yesterday, I felt the same way to the point I looked at the machine and almost started throwing up. I then remembered that I had seen a testimonial that talked about the same reaction, but I can not find it now. Today, I am feeling better and had a small blast with fruit this morning. If I remember the article right, it took that person about 3 days to get over the initial effects. I know I should have started like book said, but I have always enjoyed fruits and vegetables and eat salads (including spinach) on a regular basis. Has anyone else had this type of reaction and what was the longer term effects.
I’ve yet to have any issues with bloating, but a few of my co-workers have so I sent this article to them and it’s helping.
I also do a “shooter” of Bragg’s apple cider before I drink my Nutriblast, and this article mentions the benefit of vinegar to help with bloating, so that may be why I’m lucking out.

When I am drinking my daily blast at work, I tell them how great it is and they still say “yuck!” so I swear that it tastes good and let them quickly stick a straw in the drink for a little taste of their own, even if they just lick the straw. So far so good! No one has balked at the deliciousness, and everyone is envious of the nutritiousness. Wanna lose 5 pounds fast? Stop drinking beer and drink a daily Nutriblast! You can thank me later.
Just tell your friends you have a new chocolate energy drink for them. Share the other ingredients later.
I love the idea of the protein powder. Thanks Jennipher!
Jennipher,
I got my nutribullet for my bday in Dec. I have used it every day since. People think that what I’m drinking looks yucky also. I actually LOVE the smoothies I make! I make one a day usually ,sometimes 2. I throw anything in it with a few berries to give it a bit of sweet taste and truly enjoying. I would love to hear any yummy recipes you have. I’ve made them with spinach or kale with carrots, peppers, broccoli, ground flax seed, walnuts and frozen berries . I know fresh berries would be better but not much is in season. I feel so much healthier and swear my skin looks better. I constantly am telling my friends about how great these drinks are but I feel until they try one they just won’t know.

Many times in the past, I offered my husband a sip of my green drink. He would look, wrinkle his nose and sweetly decline. No matter how I introduced it, he would refuse. Then I saw a Nutribullet infomercial and urged him to watch it with me. It worked! He’s been having a green smoothie with me every day since. Thanks Nutribullet! I’ve been a whole foods vegan for the last 9 years and eaten a healthy diet all my life. I’ve had many juicers and a variety of blenders. The Nutribullet is the best machine I’ve owned, bar none. It does an incredible job of emulsifying tough greens, like kale and collards, for a smooth and delicious drink.
When you say whole foods do you mean raw? I’m vegan & want to try raw.
Put a dollop of whipped cream on it & tell ‘em its a latte.
If they are guys I work with – I dare them. They can’t resist and always try my ‘sludge’. They usually say something like – wow, that’s actually good!
My female friends are all about the “rewards” – skin looking better, more energy, etc. so they’ll give it a whirl.
Cheers!
I just tell them that making a smoothie to break down leafy greens and other vegetables allows to to eat raw vegetable that having dentures makes it hard to eat and digest. Adding fruit and some chia or nuts gives the smoothie a pleasing taste and adds to the nutritional value. They still look at my like, “yuck,” but I’m not swayed by peer pressure when I know it’s so good for me – and tastes so good and filling! I don’t have any special recipes, I just keep supplies of spinach and kale and some fruit and throw in what I have on hand. Happy New Year!
Got my NutiBullet today! I’m soooo excited to start some of the blast recipes and going healthier. My favorite fruits are pineapple, strawberry, mango and bananas. I love spinach so I will definitely be using that. I love to experiment so I think this is gonna so much fun to create good tasting drinks. And help with weight loss. Wish me luck! Thanks NutiBullet. You changed my life forever!!!!!!!
